    Natural Fabric Dyeing
    Event Description:
This fun, experimental, dig-in-and-dye-it workshop is perfect for new and experienced makers alike. Spend the day learning how to upcycle scarves, fabric remnants, pillow cases, curtains, t-shirts into something new, wearable, useful and wonderfully artistic. Make your own organic dyes using materials from your fridge crisper, compost bin and garden - fruits, flowers, vegetables, botanicals and herbs. Learn natural dyeing techniques including bundle, dip, and raw color transfer to fabrics.

You’ll take home at least one, original wearable or functional piece of art and all the know-how to continue experimenting at home.

All workshop materials are provided. You’re encouraged to bring items from home to add to the materials collection (makes it more fun and interesting!) including organic household and garden materials described above and pre-washed white natural fabrics or remnants including cotton, linen, wool, muslin, and silk, and recycled denim.

    Skill Level: Beginner + | Ages: 16 +
    Fee: NUMU Member: $80 | General: $100
    All Materials Included with Tuition

All class fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

    About the Instructor:
Local South Bay Artist, Ruby Dosen is a prolific, multifaceted artist who embraces the traditions of the Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetic in her practice - asymmetry, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty and intimacy, and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes. Ruby has been creating and making art since she was a child growing up in Croatia and Chicago.
